Budding writers showcased their skills by performing a collection of their writing in front of family and friends.
The Year 7 cohort are on the All Write Now programme, which helps young people’s creativity and boosts their writing confidence, and this is one of the school’s many co-curricular programmes.
Oli Knight, Principal at Ark Acton, said: “Our students speak every language, so we are a truly global community, and we embrace this. However, we know that learning English can be a challenge for some students, especially when you add a pandemic and transition into a new school. “I know some students were a bit nervous reading in front of an audience, but teachers and their peers were on hand to support and cheer them on. I’m very proud of everyone who took part as they are finding joy in their learning and are building their confidence by reading either in English or in their mother tongue.”
Marta Pavlyshyn speaks Ukrainian, Yousif Hama is from Iran, speaks Kurdish at home and is speaking English in the clip, and finally, Samin Sarebani from Iran speaks Persian.
