Homework Timetable

Homework  isn’t just about finishing tasks for us at Ark Acton—it’s about building the essential habits that lead to success. Regular independent study helps students develop self-discipline, resilience and time management, skills that go far beyond the classroom.

Research into the science of learning shows that spaced practice, retrieval, and effortful learning strengthen memory and deepen understanding. That’s why we set meaningful homework: to give every student the chance to revisit key knowledge, apply skills, and grow their confidence.

By putting in consistent effort at home, students lay the foundations for long-term achievement.

- Each homework should last 30 minutes, so y7/8/9 are expected to complete 90 minutes of homework per day, not including weekends

- Some homeworks may be set / due on days when a pupil does not have a lesson. In most cases these homeworks are set online.

- Each homework should last 45 minutes, so y10/11 are expected to complete 120 minutes of homework per day, not including weekends
