We are extremely proud to announce that Mohamedamin Nuur in Yr 13 has secured a place to study Computing on a fully paid scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania– a prestigious Ivy League school in Philadelphia.
Mohamedamin shared his thoughts on his recent success :
"I applied for the Sutton Trust's US Programme - a programme that takes students from schools in the UK and helps them apply to schools in the US. Several of my teachers helped me by writing a personal recommendation to the Sutton Trust. I had to explain why I wanted to apply, why I chose the teachers I did to do my recommendations, and I then applied. I had to meet the different universities online and I was really pleased to receive a fully paid scholarship from the University of Pennsylvania. The University of Pennsylvania is one of the oldest universities in the United States and has a rich history of research. It has always been my dream to study in the US and it has become a reality thanks to Ark Acton Academy, my teachers, Ark, the support of my family and The Sutton Trust. I’m looking forward to taking my A Levels this Summer and I’m happy to talk to any students who might want to talk to me about how I applied."
Mr Merton, one of Mohamedamin’s teachers noted his ‘determination to succeed and his resilience’ as keys to his success alongside his committed attitude to studying. We’re really proud of you Mohamedamin and wish you, and all Yr 13s, all the best for the upcoming exams.
