1. All students are prepared to participate in and shape national discourse by having access to university or a real alternative. This will be achieved by students identified as SEND attaining equitable outcomes to their non-SEND peers. Quality-first teaching for all students is integral in meeting this aim.
  2. All students have access to equal opportunities and experiences at Ark Acton Academy1. Students identified as SEND are proportionally represented in rewards/sanctions data, have equitable attendance data to their non-SEND peers and are proportionally included in co-curricular opportunities. School systems teach all students about diversity, equality and social justice through our values of honesty, kindness and hard work.
  3. Where we have to put in special educational provision that is additional to or different from that made generally for others of the same age2 we will endeavour for this to not be at the long-term expense of high-quality teaching, but will comprise of time-limited, evidence-based interventions3 that complement quality first teaching and through the effective deployment of teaching assistants4.
  4. Continue to develop the strategic overview of SEND at Ark Acton Academy, ensuring we embed a graduated approach (Assess, Plan, Do, Review) based on high quality assessment and identification process that enables us to have an ongoing, holistic understanding of our pupils, their needs and how they can be best supported in making good progress and outcomes5
