Striving for excellence

The behaviour here is outstanding, and the students are great to work with - it’s not just a school preparing boys and girls for academic life, it’s helping them to stand and be prepared for the world.  We are one of the top multi-academy trusts in the country and has a strong track record of improving schools. Most of the schools that join the network come to Ark rated inadequate or in special measures.

As a network, our schools work together closely, support each other and share best practice. Ark Acton Academy will definitely benefit from strong links with our other Ark schools in the local area too. We’re confident that we are in a great position to support the staff and students at the school to achieve.

At Ark, we believe that every young person, regardless of their background, deserves a great education and real choices in life. I hope you’re as excited as we are to set out on this journey together.

Training opportunities

Our teachers get at least 10 days of training a year – double the standard number.

Our training doesn’t stop once you reach a certain level or learn a certain skill – we’ll support you throughout your whole career, from starting out as a trainee to running your own school. In order to deliver the best training and network events, we offer twice as many training days as standard. Additionally, up to three times a year, people working in specific roles or subject areas get together to share best practice and deepen their subject knowledge with peers from across the Ark network.

Research shows that the first few years of your teaching career are the most crucial. That’s why we provide Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) with a highly supportive, tailored programme that runs alongside your teaching role, dedicating extra time to your development.

The NQT programme features a welcome week, ongoing coaching and co-planning, local workshops and three conferences a year.

Be part of a network

Joining our school means becoming part of a network of education experts who are all united by the same purpose - a commitment to making a difference where it matters most. You will have the opportunity to come together with your peers locally, nationally and sometimes even internationally, to share resources, learning and good practice.  You'll also be supported to focus on what you do best. We are always looking for ways to take away additional pressures, to give you more freedom to concentrate on improving education outcomes for young people. We offer support beyond the classroom; from prioritising strong behaviour management strategies to giving you access to our award-winning data management platform.

Have an impact far beyond your own school

If you want to be part of the effort to advance and improve education, join Ark. From creating and working with new curricula and teaching techniques, to collaborating with other schools and partners to share what works, we’re always aiming for system change. Through Ark Ventures, we incubate, launch and scale initiatives, such as Mathematics Mastery, English Mastery, Institute for Teaching and Ambition School Leadership, that address some of the most intractable issues in education and society – in the UK and around the world.
