Why Join Ark Acton?
Ark Acton is a vibrant, diverse and ambitious Academy – dedicated to making sure that every child fulfils their potential and goes on to lead a happy and successful life.
Our school is rapidly improving and it is our aim to be among the best schools in London. We are ambitious for our school, and ambitious for every single student. We know that given the best teaching, and the right support, every child can be successful.
Aiming for the highest outcomesAt Ark Acton students are taught by highly trained teachers who are subject specialists and who have unwavering passion for their subject. Students also have access to a hugely varied extra-curricular programme which includes debating, sports, Duke of Edinburgh, performing arts, gardening, MedSoc (our Medical Society for budding medics), and coding.
Although exams were cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19 – we saw a marked increase in achievement at GSCE level, particularly in maths and English and, importantly, we are forecasting another significant increase this year – continuing our rapid improvement journey. Our sixth form is among the best in the country for the progress that our pupils make – and last year 95% of our students went to their first-choice university including Oxford and Cambridge, and the US Ivy League.
Ark is committed to ensuring that digital literacy is embedded in every one of our schools and, as such, every Year 7 pupil at Ark Acton will be provided with their own laptop which they will keep for the duration of their time with us.
Pastoral suportPastoral support is essential and is something that we invest in heavily. Ark Acton students have in-school access to counselling, adolescent psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), clinical psychology, Mental Health First Aid, art therapy and family therapy. Every year group also has a non-teaching Head of Year who is focussed on their care and guidance.
Our school environment is calm and purposeful. Our behaviour policy underpins everything that we do so that no time is lost for learning. We were delighted that our school was described as “well-ordered and calm” during a recent visit by a former DfE behaviour advisor, who stated that “behaviour continues to be very good” at Ark Acton”.
